Rep. John Larson, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, recently addressed significant concerns through a series of tweets. Larson, who has been a congressman since 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate, voiced his critiques and legislative activities, particularly in response to the actions of the Trump administration and his ongoing support for small farms.

On April 1, 2025, Larson commented on the Secretary of Education’s authority and the consequences of recent administrative decisions in a tweet stating, “President Trump can’t shut down the Department of Education on his own, but his Administration is still pushing ahead with devastating cuts to our schools. Funds that support mental health services, technology, and summer enrichment are now FROZEN.”

Later the same day, at 23:00 UTC, Larson addressed issues concerning Social Security, referencing actions by prominent figures such as Trump and Musk. He tweeted, “Today, we heard directly from Americans who are being hurt by Trump and Musk’s attacks on Social Security. They are dismantling it from the inside, cutting Social Security to pay for more tax breaks for billionaires. Democrats are fighting to defend your earned benefits!”

On April 2, 2025, Larson tweeted about a legislative initiative aimed at supporting local agriculture that has been impacted by environmental challenges. Referring to the “Save Our Small Farms Act,” Larson stated, “After farms in our region lost entire crop yields to flooding in 2023, the CT delegation introduced the Save Our Small Farms Act. Our bill will make crop insurance more affordable for small farms & reduce the paperwork burdens farmers face to get support when disaster strikes.”
