The University of Hartford men’s indoor track and field team competed at the NCAA Division III New England Championship in Boston, finishing 26th out of 30 scoring teams.
Freshman Jason Edmund from Brooklyn set a new school record in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.91 seconds during the preliminaries. He went on to place seventh in the finals, finishing at 6.94 seconds. “It was an amazing experience being that I’m just a freshman competing in indoor track for the first time,” said Edmund. “I look forward to improving more for the upcoming outdoor season.”
In other events, sophomore Aidan Lybarger finished 14th in the weight throw with a distance of 15.40 meters, while junior William Pavlinsky placed 18th at 14.62 meters in the same event and took 13th place in shot put with a mark of 13.98 meters. Freshman Julius Lowe-Wannamaker finished 20th in men’s long jump, reaching a distance of 6.22 meters.
The men’s 4×800 meter relay team finished in 11th place with a time of 8:06.02.
The Hawks are now waiting to find out if any athletes will qualify for nationals in Birmingham, Alabama; otherwise, they will prepare for the upcoming outdoor season.
