The Hartford men’s tennis team lost a close Conference of New England match to Western New England University by a score of 4-3 on April 14.

The result highlights the competitive nature of the conference, as Hartford started strong but could not hold off a comeback from their opponents.

Hartford secured the doubles point by winning all three matches. Max Poss and Jake Short won in number one doubles with a score of 6-2. Anthony Pomares and Yande Simunyola took number two doubles with a 6-3 win, while Thomas Andersen and Jared DeGruttola finished number three doubles at 7-5. In singles play, Short won his match at number three singles (6-4, 6-1), and Pomares claimed victory at number four singles (6-4, 6-2). However, Western New England came back to win the remaining singles matches—numbers one, two, five, and six—to secure the overall team victory.

The Hawks will look to rebound when they host Endicott College on Sunday at 1:00 PM.
