Hartford softball lost both games of its final double-header in Florida on March 17, falling 8-0 to the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and 5-3 to Hamilton College.

The results mark a setback for the Hawks as they prepare to return north for conference play. The team was shut out for the first time in 27 games during the opener and missed several opportunities to score in both contests.

In the first game, Hartford started strong with singles from Gia Miccio and Katrina Baran but could not score. Wisconsin-Eau Claire responded with a seven-run rally in the second inning, aided by two Hartford errors. Despite collecting eight hits off Blugold pitcher Claire Beck, Hartford was unable to bring any runs home. Beck also drove in a run in the sixth inning, ending the game early at 8-0. Senior Carly Mayhood pitched two innings for Hartford, allowing three earned runs, while Ella Zobel provided relief over nearly four innings.

Against Hamilton College, Hartford gave up two early runs but answered back with an RBI single from Adelie Beebe. The Hawks left the bases loaded twice and could not capitalize on scoring chances throughout the game. Anita Farkash contributed offensively with a double and two RBIs, while Alyssa Edwards added a late double that sparked a seventh-inning rally which ultimately fell short. Gracie Hopkins started on the mound for Hartford before Alex Hassett took over in relief.

The Hawks will next play Curry College on Saturday, March 21, as they begin Conference of New England action in Milton, Massachusetts.
