U.S. Representative John B. Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district in Congress, addressed several national issues on March 13, 2026, through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
In a post from the afternoon of March 13, Larson criticized former President Donald Trump’s military actions in Iran and highlighted his own legislative response. He stated: “Trump is plunging our troops headfirst into a forever war without Congressional approval. Last week, I voted to withdraw our Armed Forces from his illegal war with Iran before more servicemembers lose their lives.” (March 13, 2026).
Later that day, Larson promoted new legislation aimed at expanding national service opportunities for young Americans. In partnership with Senator Jack Reed, he wrote: “This #AmeriCorpsWeek, @SenJackReed and I introduced ACTION for National Service to expand service opportunities & cut college costs. Our plan will support one million full-time service positions and provide volunteers with two years of in-state tuition for every year they serve.” (March 13, 2026).
In an evening post on the same day, Larson condemned actions by officials from the Trump administration regarding labor agreements at the Department of Veterans Affairs. He congratulated union organizations on a recent victory: “Trump officials illegally terminated bargaining agreements at the VA, even canceling approved maternity leave! Congratulations to @AFGENational and @afgenvac on this hard-fought win. Labor has stood up to billionaire bosses like Trump for over a century. We aren’t stopping now.” (March 13, 2026).
Larson has served in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously held office in the Connecticut Senate between 1987 and 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford, Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
