John B. Larson, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district, shared his views on various issues through social media on April 2, 2025. Larson has been in Congress since 1999, succeeding Barbara Kennelly, after serving in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995.
In a tweet on April 2, 2025, Larson celebrated the University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball team’s historic accomplishment, stating, “For the 24th time, @UConnWBB is headed to the Final Four – the most appearances in NCAA history! Go Huskies!”
Later the same day, Larson criticized the Trump administration’s decision to lay off employees managing federally funded home heating assistance. He expressed concern about the impact on Connecticut, saying, “The Trump Administration is laying off the entire staff who manage federally funded home heating assistance. Nearly 100,000 households in Connecticut rely on this aid to afford their energy bills!”
In another post, Larson addressed President Trump’s tariff policies, warning of their consequences for American consumers. He tweeted, “President Trump’s reckless tariffs will hike prices by thousands of dollars per year for the average household. He even said he ‘couldn’t care less’ if prices go up! Congress must act to stop this tax increase on American consumers.”
