In a recent series of tweets, John B. Larson, a long-serving U.S. Congressman from Connecticut, shared his positions and concerns on significant international and domestic issues. Larson has been representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999 after a stint in the Connecticut Senate.
On April 24, 2025, Larson expressed his solidarity with Armenian communities by tweeting: “On #ArmenianGenocide Remembrance Day, we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered at the hands of the Ottomans. We must never forget their stories. More than 100 years later, we stand with the 120,000 Armenians who’ve been forcibly displaced from their homes in Nagorno-Karabakh.”
Later that day, at 18:48 UTC, the Congressman conveyed his dismay over a recent tragedy in Kashmir, writing: “I am horrified by the deadly terror attack that killed at least 26 Indian tourists in Kashmir on Tuesday. I stand with the families of the victims during this time. They remain in my prayers as the world reels from this horrific atrocity. Peace must endure.”
His concerns also extend to domestic policies, as reflected in his tweet at 21:07 UTC, where he criticized the Trump Administration’s plans to close Social Security offices. Larson stated: “The Trump Administration wants to close the offices that deliver your Social Security benefits. They’ve even targeted the Torrington field office for closure. I joined @SenWarren and a group of our colleagues to tell them – keep our field offices open!” This action highlights his commitment to maintaining crucial public services.
John B. Larson, who was born in Hartford, Connecticut, continues to reside in East Hartford and brings his experiences from his earlier service in the Connecticut Senate to his Congressional role. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1971 with a BA.
