U.S. Representative John B. Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district, shared updates on community initiatives and federal funding in a series of posts between November 2 and November 3, 2025.
On November 2, Larson highlighted local efforts to address food insecurity alongside Senator Richard Blumenthal. He stated, “Communities all across CT are coming together to keep families fed. I was in West Hartford today with @SenBlumenthal to donate food and join neighbors who are stepping up. The funding is there. Courts have spoken. Donald Trump needs to do his job so SNAP benefits can continue.”
The following day, Larson discussed advancements in nursing education at Goodwin University: “I visited the @GoodwinUniv campus in East Hartford to open a new nursing simulation center. Proud to have worked with @SenBlumenthal and @ChrisMurphyCT to bring home federal funding to make this cutting-edge project a reality and offer more scholarship opportunities for students.”
Later on November 3, he addressed issues facing veterans during a government shutdown: “Servicemembers and veterans aren’t bargaining chips. VA benefits continue to be processed during the shutdown, but Trump appointees have ordered workers to stop responding to our offices. My office is open and will continue to communicate on your behalf. Call us at 860-278-8888.”
Larson has represented Connecticut’s 1st district in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948, Larson currently resides in East Hartford and holds a BA from Central Connecticut State University.
