Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, expressed his legislative priorities in a series of tweets posted on April 30, 2025. Through these social media interactions, he communicated his efforts towards addressing the affordable housing crisis and defending social security and essential programs against perceived threats.
On April 30, 2025, Larson, along with Rep. Mike Kelly, announced the introduction of the Neighborhood Homes Investment Act. Larson explained the bill as “a bipartisan solution to address the nation’s affordable housing crisis and make homeownership a reality for more families.”
Later that day, Larson reinforced his stance on Social Security, responding to comments made by Rep. Jeffries. He stated in a tweet that Social Security is “an earned benefit that you paid for” and criticized recent developments under President Trump and Elon Musk. Larson maintained that Democrats “will strengthen Social Security, not cut it.”
In another tweet posted the same day, Larson criticized President Trump, outlining his concerns about the administration’s approach to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. He declared opposition to policies that, in his view, propose essential service cuts in favor of tax reductions for billionaires, affirming the House Democrats’ unity in defending these programs.
John B. Larson has been a member of Congress since 1999 after having served in the Connecticut Senate. Born in Hartford, Larson resides in East Hartford and holds a degree from Central Connecticut State University.
