Rep. John Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on September 4, 2025, to voice concerns about federal policies impacting healthcare costs, immigration enforcement, and public health leadership.

In a post published early that day, Larson criticized former President Donald Trump and the Republican budget proposal. He wrote, “Trump promised to lower costs on Day One, but he’s raising them on you. While the Republican Budget showers the rich with new tax breaks, you’ll have to pay more to see your doctor if you’re covered through HUSKY. @RepChrisPappas and I have a bill to stop their ‘sick tax’ NOW.” (September 4, 2025). HUSKY is Connecticut’s Medicaid program.

Later that afternoon, Larson addressed actions by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating “ICE has gone well beyond their mission, even deporting active duty servicemembers and veterans! That’s not the America I know. This has to stop now. I’m demanding answers and real accountability for our military families.” (September 4, 2025).

That evening, he commented on Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s statements regarding vaccine policy and leadership at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Larson posted: “RFK Jr. doubled down on every one of his lies today. He gave no good reason for his CDC purge. He had no evidence to justify his vaccine restrictions. He couldn’t defend shutting down cancer research. Secretary Kennedy: Resign before your baseless conspiracies kill our kids.” (September 4, 2025).

Larson has served in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Barbara Kennelly and previously held office in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1971.
