Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, recently shared his views on various legislative issues via social media. Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948 and a graduate of Central Connecticut State University, Larson has been an active political figure since his time in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995.
On May 14, 2025, Rep. Larson expressed concern over proposed tax policies by House Republicans. He stated that “While House Republicans try to pass trillions in tax breaks for the wealthy, they want to reduce or eliminate SNAP for millions of Americans.” He highlighted that approximately “42 million Americans rely on their SNAP benefits,” including many households within his home state of Connecticut.
Later that day, he addressed potential healthcare impacts resulting from these tax proposals. According to Larson’s statement at 18:16 UTC, “More than 13 million Americans could be kicked off their health care plan so billionaires can get a tax break.” He emphasized Democratic efforts to protect Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act while urging some Republican members to oppose what he termed a “cruel bill.”
In another post later that evening at 20:01 UTC, Larson paid tribute to his late colleague Rep. Bill Pascrell. He noted Pascrell’s dedication to Paterson and supported naming a National Park after him as a fitting honor for his legacy.
John B. Larson continues to reside in East Hartford and remains actively involved in legislative matters affecting both his constituents and broader national policy.
