Junior Jordan Murphy became the first women’s All-American in University of Hartford history at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships, held at the Birmingham Crossplex in Alabama, according to a March 14 announcement. Murphy competed in both the pentathlon and high jump events, representing Hartford on the national stage.

Murphy’s achievement marks a significant milestone for the university’s athletics program. She was previously named Division III New England Champion in the pentathlon with a meet-record score of 3559. At the national championships, she finished as a two-time Second Team All-American, placing 16th in the pentathlon with a score of 3416 and ninth in the high jump after clearing a height of 1.67 meters.

“Going into this weekend I was excited to compete and just out there and try my best,” said Murphy. “I am grateful to be a part of such a supportive team, and that environment and team culture makes it easy to work hard and push each other to get better.”

Head Coach Connor Green praised Murphy’s performance over the two-day competition. “After a long two days, Jordan did an incredible job of balancing the experience, the goals of earning all American, as well as just trying to perform her best,” Green said. “It was a phenomenal experience to be able to watch her not only break history as our first athlete ever qualify for the national championships on the women’s side, but also just watching how she handled the highs, the lows and everything in between of this overall meet. Her ambition to succeed is what makes her unique and we’re thrilled to watch her continue to grow. We are so proud of her.”

With their indoor season concluded following Murphy’s performance in Alabama, Hartford will begin its outdoor season at the UMass Lowell Invitational on Friday, March 27.
