U.S. Representative John B. Larson, who serves Connecticut’s 1st district, addressed a range of national issues in a series of posts on March 15, 2026. Larson commented on public health, foreign policy, and labor rights.
In recognition of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Larson emphasized the importance of early detection. On March 15, he posted: “During Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, we remember the importance of early screening and detection, with colorectal cancer now the leading cause of cancer deaths in Americans under 50. We will continue to expand access to care and research to improve outcomes and save lives.”
Later that day, Larson criticized former President Donald Trump’s actions regarding Iran. At 17:55 UTC on March 15 he wrote: “Trump declared war from Mar-a-Lago without approval from Congress or any understanding of what it would cost our servicemembers. He must end his illegal war with Iran now. We cannot become entangled in another costly, never-ending conflict.”
Larson also voiced support for organized labor and local infrastructure projects. In a post at 20:54 UTC on March 15 he stated: “I’ll always stand with our hard-working men and women in labor. We recently announced a Project Labor Agreement requirement we secured together to build Hartford’s new courthouse. This determination, along with millions in federal funding, will create good-paying union jobs!”
John B. Larson has represented Connecticut’s 1st District since 1999 after succeeding Barbara Kennelly; prior to his congressional service he was a member of the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford at age 74, Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
