Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, has shared a series of tweets addressing historical remembrance, job training programs, and community engagement on social welfare issues.
On June 7, 2025, Rep. Larson commemorated the 81st anniversary of D-Day by acknowledging the valor and sacrifice of those involved in the historic event. He emphasized the importance of remembering their contributions to freedom. “81 years since Allied forces stormed the shores of Normandy, we remember the courage and bravery of the heroes of D-Day.”
Two days later, on June 9, 2025, he expressed concern over potential changes to Job Corps Centers under the Trump Administration’s plans to suspend them nationwide. Highlighting their role in training young people for critical industries such as manufacturing and shipbuilding, Larson joined a bipartisan group urging for the program’s continuation. “Job Corps Centers train thousands of young people for critical industries… The Trump Administration wants to suspend Job Corps nationwide.”
Later that day, Rep. Larson invited constituents to share their experiences regarding proposed cuts to essential programs like Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security. He encouraged residents from his district to voice how these changes could affect them personally through an online platform he provided. “I want to hear from you… Residents from across our district have been sharing how cuts to programs like Medicare… would impact them.”
John B. Larson has been serving in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 after previously serving in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995.
