Rep. John Larson, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, recently posted several statements on his social media account addressing issues ranging from election security to support for nurses and the celebration of International Women’s Day.
On March 7, 2026, Larson raised concerns about alleged mishandling of confidential records within the Department of Justice under former President Trump. He wrote: “Trump’s own DOJ admitted in court that ‘DOGE’ has been copying confidential records to unapproved servers. @RepTomSuozzi says it clearly: that’s a crime. ‘DOGE’ should be investigated and face charges for breaching your data & scheming to use it to interfere with our elections.”
The following day, marking International Women’s Day on March 8, 2026, Larson highlighted the importance of women in leadership and community roles. He stated: “On International Women’s Day, we celebrate the women who lead, innovate, and strengthen our community every day. We recommit to expanding opportunity, advancing equity, and ensuring every woman and girl knows their voices matter. #InternationalWomensDay”
Later that same day, Larson addressed proposed changes affecting nursing students under new policies linked to former President Trump. He posted: “Patients depend on our nurses every day. We should be doing everything to support them and ensure they have the training they need. Trump’s new rule will make it harder for nursing students to afford a college education. We’re fighting to block it!”
Larson has served as Connecticut’s representative in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously held office in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford at age 74, he graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
