Rep. John Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, addressed a range of national and local issues in a series of posts on March 19 and 20, 2026.
On March 19, Larson criticized former President Trump’s record on utility costs and recent Republican legislative actions. He wrote, “President Trump promised to cut utility bills in half, but on his watch, electricity costs are up 13% nationwide. Republicans passed a bill to raise prices even further! Our American Affordability Act will help bring down energy costs for families and invest in clean power.”
Later that day, Larson commented on Congressional oversight efforts involving Elon Musk and the cryptocurrency ‘DOGE’. He stated, “Elon Musk and ‘DOGE’ still haven’t appeared before Congress, and Republicans are doing everything they can to shield them from accountability. They changed the rules just to prevent us from investigating what ‘DOGE’ was doing with YOUR personal records. We need answers NOW.”
On March 20, Larson extended holiday greetings to constituents observing Eid al-Fitr: “Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating in the First District and around the world! May today bring joy and good health to you and your loved ones.”
Larson has served as the representative for Connecticut’s 1st district since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999. Before his tenure in Congress, he served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948, Larson is currently 74 years old and resides in East Hartford. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Connecticut State University in 1971.
