Rep. John Larson, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, has recently shared his views on various issues through social media posts. Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford, Larson has been active in politics for several decades, including serving in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995.
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Larson expressed his support for public servants during Public Service Recognition Week. He stated: “During Public Service Recognition Week, I’m proudly standing with public servants across the nation.” He criticized the current administration for letting go thousands of workers at Social Security and the VA and emphasized his commitment to fighting against these cuts and advocating for workers’ rights to organize.
Later that day, he acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the entire Connecticut delegation in securing disaster relief funds for farmers affected by adverse weather conditions. In his post, he remarked: “The entire Connecticut delegation worked together to pass disaster relief for our farmers after they were hit with flooding and frost.” He extended gratitude towards Representative Rosa DeLauro for her role in urging the USDA to expedite fund delivery.
In another tweet on May 8th, Larson congratulated Pope Leo XIV on becoming the first American pontiff. He expressed enthusiasm about this historic election by stating: “Congratulations to Pope Leo XIV! I am thrilled by the historic election of the first American pontiff.” He conveyed his hopes for Pope Leo XIV’s success in advancing the Church’s mission.
