John B. Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, shared his thoughts on various issues through a series of tweets. These posts highlight his stance on LGBTQ+ rights, antisemitism, and disability services.
On June 1, 2025, Larson expressed support for the LGBTQ+ community by wishing them a happy Pride month. He emphasized his commitment as a member of the Equality Caucus to fight against discrimination: “Happy #PRIDE to the entire LGBTQ+ community, in Connecticut and across the nation! As a member of the @EqualityCaucus, I will continue to stand up to hate and work with my colleagues in Congress to ensure no one faces discrimination for who they are or who they love.”
The following day, on June 2, Larson addressed an attack targeting the Jewish community in Colorado that included a Holocaust survivor among its victims. He condemned antisemitism and political violence while calling for justice: “I’m horrified by yesterday’s attack targeting the Jewish community in Colorado, including a Holocaust survivor. I am praying for the victims who were injured. Antisemitism and political violence have no place in our country. The perpetrator must be swiftly brought to justice.”
Later that day, Larson criticized actions by the Trump Administration regarding disability services. He highlighted concerns over potential cuts to Medicaid coverage for home-based services and affirmed his collaboration with Mosaic to protect access to care: “The Trump Administration is closing the office that serves people with disabilities at home and their budget bill could decimate Medicaid coverage for home-based services. I’m working with Mosaic to protect access to care for residents with disabilities. These cuts cannot stand.”
John B. Larson has been representing Connecticut’s 1st District since 1999 after succeeding Barbara Kennelly. Prior to this role, he served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 until 1995.
