Rep. John Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on March 17, 2026, addressing retirement security, data privacy concerns involving the Department of Justice, and recognition for law enforcement at the Capitol.
In a post made at 18:45 UTC, Larson wrote: “After a lifetime of work, people deserve to retire with dignity. I’m proud to receive a 100% from @ActiveRetirees for my work protecting Social Security and Medicare. I’ll always fight for our nation’s seniors and the benefits they’ve earned!”.
Later that evening at 20:51 UTC, Larson commented on alleged misconduct within the Department of Justice: “Trump’s own Department of Justice admitted to wrongdoing by ‘DOGE.’ Now, we have another whistleblower saying YOUR PERSONAL DATA was copied on to a thumb drive and taken for personal gain and profit. We need answers and a full investigation NOW!”.
At 22:30 UTC on the same day, Larson addressed efforts to honor law enforcement officers involved in protecting the Capitol during January 6th events: “For years, Republicans REFUSED TO FOLLOW THE LAW and install a plaque honoring law enforcement who protected the Capitol on January 6th. It’s finally up.
We’ll never let Trump and his allies rewrite the history of that day – when we almost lost our democracy to the insurrection.”
Larson has served in Congress since 1999 after succeeding Barbara Kennelly. He previously held office in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford, Larson is an alumnus of Central Connecticut State University with a BA earned in 1971.
