Rep. John Larson, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, recently addressed several policy issues and encouraged civic participation through a series of posts on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
On November 3, 2025, Larson criticized former President Donald Trump’s approach to social welfare funding. He wrote, “Donald Trump has all the money he needs to build ballrooms and bail out buddies in Argentina, but he won’t stand up for families on SNAP. The funding is there. Courts have ruled. The President has a responsibility to keep our kids, seniors & veterans fed.”
In another post on November 4, 2025, Larson discussed the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program and its implementation under different administrations: “We enacted Public Service Loan Forgiveness to lower college costs for graduates who give back. But if your work doesn’t go along with the MAGA agenda, Trump wants to deny you the aid you were promised. Proud to stand with @AGWilliamTong, @RepJoeCourtney & workers fighting back!”
Also on November 4, Larson reminded constituents about Election Day procedures: “Today is Election Day! Visit https://t.co/dMxVvgXdTR to find your polling place. Polls are open now until 8 PM. Make your voice heard and VOTE! “
Larson’s recent comments reflect ongoing debates over federal nutrition assistance programs such as SNAP and the future of student loan forgiveness policies in the United States.
John B. Larson was born in Hartford in 1948 and currently resides in East Hartford at age 74. Before joining Congress in 1999—succeeding Barbara Kennelly—he served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995 and graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
