Rep. John Larson, a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, recently took to social media to address several pressing issues. Known for his active engagement in legislative matters since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999, Larson continues to express his views on various national concerns through his platform.
On June 10, 2025, Larson criticized a recent Supreme Court ruling that he described as “outrageous.” According to his tweet, the decision grants “Elon Musk’s ‘DOGE’ minions unfettered access to your personal data – even medical records!” He expressed confusion over why such access would be necessary and announced his intention to introduce a bill aimed at safeguarding personal data from what he termed as “meddling” by Social Security.
Later that same day, Larson addressed another issue concerning public broadcasting services. In a tweet posted at 11:57 PM UTC, he accused Republicans of attempting to defund PBS and NPR because these organizations do not align with the views of former President Trump. Larson emphasized the importance of defending free speech and press freedom in America, even amidst disagreements.
On June 11, 2025, Larson expressed support for fellow Representative LaMonica after her indictment. He stated in his post that he stands with @RepLaMonica as she faces charges related to her congressional oversight duties. Larson criticized the current administration’s alleged efforts to intimidate elected officials and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting colleagues facing similar challenges.
Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948, John B. Larson has been an influential figure in American politics for decades. He holds a BA from Central Connecticut State University and has lived in East Hartford throughout his life. Prior to joining Congress, he served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 until 1995.
