Rep. John Larson, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, posted several statements on March 9, 2026, addressing recent political developments and ongoing disputes in Washington.
In one post, Larson questioned the Trump administration’s response to a Supreme Court decision regarding tariffs: “Can’t” or “won’t?” The Supreme Court overturned Trump’s illegal tariffs, but his administration keeps coming up with every excuse in the book to keep the money. Americans are waiting for their refunds!” (March 9, 2026).
Later that day, Larson commented on the installation of a plaque honoring law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol during the January 6th attack: “After 3 YEARS of shameful Republican delays, the plaque honoring the officers who protected the Capitol on January 6th is finally up. We must never forget the bravery our law enforcement displayed that day and how democracy prevailed over the insurrection.” (March 9, 2026).
In another statement posted on March 9, Larson criticized Republican leadership over funding for federal agencies: “Noem may be on the way out, but Republicans are still refusing to rein in ICE’s lawlessness. They’d rather let our TSA and Coast Guard go without pay. Democrats have a plan to keep these agencies funded and ensure our civil servants and troops get paid. Enough with the games!”
Larson has represented Connecticut’s 1st District in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford at age 74, he graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
