Rep. John Larson, U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, posted a series of tweets on April 15, 2026, addressing national policy issues and local achievements.
In his first tweet at 16:28 UTC, Larson criticized the Trump Administration’s approach to federal services and military spending. He wrote, “From Social Security to TSA, the Trump Administration is out to privatize services and slash staff. This means longer lines for the American people — all to afford Trump’s $350 billion foreign wars slush fund.”
Later that day at 21:33 UTC, Larson congratulated a local educator for professional recognition. He stated, “Congratulations to Chris Palmieri on being named Connecticut’s Middle School Principal of the Year for his hard work at DePaolo Middle School in Southington!  Our educators play crucial roles in the lives of young people, and they will always have my support.”
At 22:29 UTC, Larson commented on recent actions by former President Trump and Pete Hegseth regarding military operations in Iran. He said, “As Trump becomes more unhinged, Pete Hegseth is carrying out his erratic edicts—even an illegal war in Iran. He leaked information that put troops at risk and gave unlawful orders to strike civilians. Proud to stand with @RepYassAnsari to file articles of impeachment against him.”
Larson has represented Connecticut’s 1st district since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford, he graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
