Rep. John Larson, U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, posted a series of statements on November 4, 2025, addressing former President Donald Trump’s actions and responding to the passing of former Vice President Dick Cheney.

In his first post of the day, Larson directly addressed Donald Trump regarding court decisions and policy implementation. On November 4, he wrote: “It’s not your decision to make, Donald. The courts have spoken. Too busy with your ballroom? Follow the law and feed our families.”

Later that evening, Larson commented on the death of Dick Cheney and expressed condolences to the Cheney family. In his post at 19:24 UTC, he stated: “While VP Cheney and I had strong disagreements, I applaud his courage – alongside his daughter Liz – to call out the perils we face as a democracy, even when it was not easy to do so. I send my deepest condolences to Lynne, Liz, and Mary Cheney as they mourn this great loss.”

Addressing student loan forgiveness for public servants such as nurses, teachers, and firefighters in another post later that night, Larson criticized Trump’s stance on the issue: “Trump wants to deny our hardworking nurses, teachers, and firefighters the student loan forgiveness they were promised and earned. His plan would yank aid from public servants whose work doesn’t fit the MAGA agenda. Connecticut will see this wannabe dictator in court.”

Larson has served in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 after previously serving in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. He was born in Hartford in 1948 and currently resides in East Hartford. Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
