U.S. Representative John B. Larson, who represents Connecticut’s 1st district, shared updates on legislative efforts and local initiatives in a series of tweets posted between July 19 and July 21, 2025.
On July 19, Larson criticized a recent executive order from President Trump, stating, “President Trump’s union-busting order targeting more than one million workers is an attack on the right to organize for everyone. Before I left Washington for the week, I signed a petition to force a vote on our bill restoring collective bargaining rights for federal workers.”
Continuing his focus on community investment, Larson tweeted on July 21 about new funding for parks in Hartford: “I joined @GovNedLamont, Mayor Arunan Arulampalam and @RiverfrontRecap in Hartford today to announce new funding for our parks. Along with funds we secured in Congress, these grants will help connect the Hartford and Windsor Riverwalks & support new recreational opportunities.”
Later that day, he also highlighted support for public libraries: “It was great to help launch the new restoration campaign at Hartford Public Library. I was proud to see federal funding support the opening of the Albany Avenue and Barbour St. branches & am working to deliver new investments to expand library services throughout the community.”
Larson has represented Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999 after succeeding Barbara Kennelly and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948, he resides in East Hartford and graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1971.
