Rep. John Larson, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, addressed several issues in a series of tweets on March 10, 2026.
In his first post, Larson criticized the executive branch’s actions regarding military engagement: “Congress has the sole responsibility to declare war, not the President. Once again, President Trump is disregarding the Constitution. This time, he is putting our troops at risk. Americans don’t want another costly conflict. This illegal war must end now!” (March 10, 2026).
Later that day, Larson provided information about tax assistance for constituents: “This tax filing season, no-cost help is available for eligible seniors and individual taxpayers! To find tax assistance near you, visit https://t.co/8bbaNvvm1H or call 800-906-9887. If you have issues with your tax return, call my office at 860-278-8888.” (March 10, 2026).
In his final tweet of the day, Larson called for an investigation into alleged misconduct involving Social Security data: “As ‘DOGE’ pored through your personal records at Social Security, we’ve been demanding accountability. A new report says that a staffer may have copied sensitive data for personal use and profit. We need a full Congressional investigation and answers!” (March 10, 2026).
Larson has served as Connecticut’s representative in Congress since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously held office in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and currently residing in East Hartford at age 74, Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
