U.S. Representative John B. Larson, who has represented Connecticut’s 1st district in Congress since 1999, posted a series of tweets criticizing recent policy actions by the Trump Administration and House Republicans regarding labor and energy issues.

On September 4, 2025, Larson expressed concern over proposed changes affecting home health care workers: “The Trump Administration wants to let employers pay home health care workers less than minimum wage and deny them overtime pay. The need for long term care is only growing. Our care workers deserve fair pay, not their government conspiring with employers to screw them over.”

Later that day, Larson commented on the impact of the GOP Budget on Connecticut workers and households: “Thanks to the GOP Budget, 300 Connecticut workers got pink slips, and households will pay over $300 more annually for electricity. Today, House Republicans voted to slash efficiency programs in half, hiking energy bills even further! Families can’t afford this radical agenda.” This statement was made on September 4, 2025.

On September 5, 2025, Larson addressed broader economic concerns related to the Trump Administration’s policies: “Trump fiddles while families get squeezed. Numbers don’t lie. Unemployment is on the rise. His tariffs are raising costs everywhere you shop. His budget means higher health care premiums and utility bills. When will House Republicans stop hiding behind Trump’s lies and act?”

Larson’s criticism comes as he continues his long tenure representing Connecticut’s 1st District in Congress—a position he has held since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999 after serving in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Born in Hartford in 1948 and residing in East Hartford, Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
