John B. Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, has voiced his concerns through a series of tweets on pressing political issues. Larson, who replaced Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995, highlighted challenges faced by seniors, the impact of economic policies, and women’s rights.
On June 3, 2025, Rep. John Larson criticized Elon Musk’s management of Social Security operations. He stated “Elon Musk’s slash-and-burn mission at Social Security continues.” Larson expressed concern over staff reductions and office closures under Musk’s direction, arguing that “They’ve only made it harder for seniors to access their hard-earned benefits.”
The following day, June 4, 2025, Larson addressed tax and tariff policies in another tweet. He commented on Republican efforts to reduce taxes for billionaires while criticizing President Trump’s tariffs for increasing consumer costs. Larson asserted that “their bill slashes nutrition benefits for millions of households!” emphasizing the financial strain these measures could impose on Americans.
Later on June 4th, he tweeted about changes in federal protections concerning reproductive health care. According to Larson, “the Trump Administration is reversing protections for mothers in states with total abortion bans.” He underscored Democratic efforts to safeguard women’s rights and restore reproductive freedoms.
John B. Larson was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948 and currently resides in East Hartford. He graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971.
