Rep. John B. Larson, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, expressed his opposition to actions by the Trump Administration through a series of tweets on April 16, 2025. Larson, a long-time member of Congress, discussed various issues from birthright citizenship to social security benefits.

In a tweet posted at 17:19 UTC, Larson noted that “House Democrats are standing up to the Trump Administration and filing briefs to oppose his illegal actions.” He emphasized their commitment to fighting back against attacks on birthright citizenship and the Federal Trade Commission, which he described as measures taken to protect consumers from fraud, price gouging, and corporate greed.

Later that day, Larson shared about his efforts to engage with local communities, writing at 19:35 UTC “This morning, I met with seniors in Parkville and @CRTCT to discuss the future of programs like Medicaid, SNAP, and Social Security.” He reaffirmed his dedication to protecting coverage and benefits in Congress from what he characterized as “devastating Trump-Musk cuts.”

In a subsequent tweet at 20:51 UTC, Larson expressed appreciation for President Biden’s opposition to the policies implemented by Trump and Musk, posting “Thank you, @JoeBiden, for speaking out against Trump and Musk’s attacks on Social Security.” Larson criticized their actions, including closing offices and firing thousands of workers, as backdoor cuts to earned benefits.

Larson, born in 1948 in Hartford, Connecticut, and currently residing in East Hartford, graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1971.
