John B. Larson, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, recently shared his views on several pressing issues via social media. Larson, who has been an active political figure since his tenure in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995, addressed topics ranging from healthcare to gun violence and privacy concerns.
On June 6, 2025, Larson highlighted the impact of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), stating that it enabled “50 MILLION Americans” to gain health coverage. He expressed concern over Republican efforts to repeal the ACA, noting that such actions could result in “16 million people” losing coverage and rising premiums. Larson emphasized the need to defeat this bill by asserting “Republicans tried to repeal the ACA more than 50 times. They’re coming after it again.”
Later that day, during #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth, Larson called attention to the impact of gun violence in America. He advocated for legislative measures such as universal background checks and an assault weapons ban by stating “Enough is enough.” His message underscored support for victims’ families and survivors.
In another post on June 6, Larson raised alarms about privacy concerns linked to ‘DOGE’ accessing personal records without proper oversight. Criticizing Elon Musk’s team for avoiding inquiries and operating above legal boundaries, he mentioned introducing legislation aimed at safeguarding privacy rights: “Elon Musk’s minions continue to dodge our inquiries – operating as if they’re above the law.”
Larson was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948 and currently resides in East Hartford. He graduated with a BA from Central Connecticut State University in 1971.
