John B. Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, has been active on social media discussing various topics pertinent to his constituents and broader national issues. Larson, who has served in Congress since 1999 after replacing Barbara Kennelly, uses his platform to address both celebratory occasions and pressing legislative matters.
On June 15, 2025, Larson extended a heartfelt message on social media celebrating Father’s Day. He acknowledged “dads, grandfathers, uncles, and all father figures” not only within his district of CT-01 but also beyond its borders. “Happy Father’s Day to dads, grandfathers, uncles, and all father figures in CT-01 and beyond!”
The following day, June 16, 2025, Larson addressed concerns regarding the GOP tax plan. He criticized the plan for potentially removing millions of Americans from essential health care and food assistance programs to fund tax breaks for the wealthy. He stated his commitment to protecting Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP benefits against these proposed cuts: “The GOP tax plan would kick millions of Americans off their health care and food assistance to pay for tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy… I’m fighting to protect your Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP nutrition benefits from these devastating cuts.”
Later that same day on June 16th, Larson expressed concern over a Supreme Court decision that overturned two lower court rulings allowing ‘DOGE’ access to personal information of Americans. He urged Chairman Smith to vote on legislation he proposed aimed at preventing such privacy invasions: “The Supreme Court overturned two lower court decisions… I’m calling on Chairman Smith to hold an immediate vote on my legislation to end this invasion of privacy… Congress must act now to protect your data!”
Larson was born in Hartford in 1948 and graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a BA in 1971. He resides in East Hartford.
