Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, has expressed strong opinions on recent actions by former President Donald Trump through a series of tweets. Larson, who succeeded Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995, criticized Trump's decisions on law enforcement and economic policies.

On February 1, 2025, Rep. Larson addressed the issue of pardoning rioters who assaulted police officers and the dismissal of those who investigated these cases. He stated, "No one can claim the mantle of law and order when they pardon rioters who assault police officers and fire the men and women who investigated and prosecuted them. This purge is but another example of Dictator-in-Chief Trump putting retribution above the public interest."

Later that day, Larson commented on a judicial decision regarding a funding freeze imposed by Trump. He remarked, "The President's 'funding freeze' blocked funding for child care, cancer treatments, and more. Glad to see a judge halt this illegal order after @AGWilliamTong took Trump to court. Connecticut won't back down from these attacks on the American people!"

On February 2, 2025, Larson critiqued Trump's economic policies concerning tariffs and tax breaks for wealthy individuals and corporations. He noted that these measures would adversely affect ordinary Americans while benefiting billionaires like Elon Musk and Trump himself: "The President's across-the-board tariffs will raise costs on you, all while he pushes more tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations. Billionaires like Musk and Trump won't lose a moment of sleep while this tax hike and his 'federal funding freeze' harm everyday Americans."
