Event Date: Wednesday, August 31, 2022 - 7:00pm to 7:55pm
The SciFi/Fantasy group will read and discuss the book Rainbows End by Vernor Vinge. Written in 2006, the story is set in 2025. Robert Gu, a former world-renowned poet, is a recovering Alzheimer’s patient thanks to advances in medical technology. He must learn to adapt to a different world where almost everything is networked. The novel examines the implications of rapid technological change and the age-old “who watches the watchers”.
Leading the conversation is veteran discussion leader, Doug Soucier. Copies of the book will be available at the library and online. Registration recommended, but not required. If you register online look for a confimation email from Engaged Patrons. If your security settings are strong the email may be found in your Spam/Junk folder.
