Representative John B. Larson, a long-serving member of Congress for Connecticut's 1st district since 1999, has actively expressed his opposition to recent political moves through a series of tweets. Larson, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Central Connecticut State University, has consistently voiced his concerns on issues impacting American consumers.

On April 9, 2025, Larson criticized tariffs imposed by President Trump, stating, "President Trump's tariffs mean you will pay more at the grocery store, pharmacy, and everywhere you shop. They are a tax on YOU." He further questioned the actions of House Republicans, noting their efforts to block Congress from considering resolutions that could overturn these tariffs. Larson declared his opposition with, "I'm a NO."

Later that day, Larson addressed a financial regulation issue, emphasizing, "President Biden’s rule capping overdraft fees would save consumers $5 billion per year." He criticized Republicans for supporting a bill that would repeal Biden's rule, stating, "Their bill pads CEO pockets by raising costs on you. I voted NO!"

In a third tweet, posted the same day, Larson acknowledged a consumer victory regarding Social Security cuts, stating, "Americans stood up to tell Trump and Musk, 'Hands off Social Security!'" He highlighted the reduction of planned cuts to phone service as a positive outcome and mentioned Elon Musk's previous comments, warning of Social Security as a target for cuts. Larson urged continued vigilance and advocacy from the public, concluding, "Today's news is a win, but we must keep speaking out."

John B. Larson has served in the U.S. Congress, representing Connecticut's 1st District, since 1999. He previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. Larson, 74, was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948 and currently resides in East Hartford.
