Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Connecticut-Hartford Campus

In-state tuition and fees rose 6.6 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Connecticut-Hartford Campus, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Connecticut residents paid $13,678 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $850 more than the $12,828 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 163.5 percent more than residents this year, or $36,046. Their price tag grew 3.3 percent from $34,896 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Connecticut residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 82 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 332 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.5 million and 222 students took out student loans totaling more than $1.2 million.

Including all undergraduates (1,432), 813 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.2 million, and 561 students took out $3.2 million in federal student loans.
