SciFi / Fantasy Book Discussion | Granby Public Library

 Event Date:
Wednesday, March 29, 2023 - 6:00pm to 7:00pm

The book club will read & discuss Early Riser, a dystopic novel (speculative fiction that offers a vision of the future) written by Jasper Fforde & published in 2019.  The story is set in an alternate Wales where most of its population hibernates during the unbearable winters.  Among those who stay awake are renegades, criminals, government officials & Charlie Worthing.  This is Charlie’s first winter awake & his job is to ensure that a steady supply of the drug Morphenox goes to those hibernating in the highly dangerous Sector Twelve. But what is really going on as people sleep every winter? And how will Charlie deal with the undead (nightwalkers), the Wintervolk (mythical monsters) & Englishmen, (known as Villains)?  You’ll need to read the book to find out.

Books will be available February 22 at the library or may be online. Discussion lead by Doug Soucier.

REGISTRATION REQUESTED online or call the library 860-844-5275.
