East Hartford, CT – On June 2, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement in response to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s interview on Fox News supporting making cuts to Social Security and other programs that they were unable to do because President Biden blocked them. Larson has long advocated for not only protecting but also expanding Social Security.
“Republicans continue to talk about a ‘study’ or a ‘commission,’ and that is simply just code for cuts to Social Security,” said Larson. “We have rejected Republican attempts to take Social Security hostage and will continue to work with the President and my colleagues in Congress to ensure this program is not only protected but also expanded for the first time in 52 years.”
