Washington, D.C. - On June 23, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement praising Connecticut delegation members, Ranking Member of the Appropriations Committee Rosa DeLauro (CT-03) and Ranking Member of the House Armed Services Seapower and Projection Forces Subcommittee Joe Courtney (CT-02), for their efforts to support the F135 in Connecticut throughout their respective committee markups.
“We have the best machinists and engineers in the world right here in Connecticut who build the F135 engine, the most advanced, reliable and capable fighter engine the world has ever known,” said Larson. “I commend Reps. DeLauro and Courtney for their tireless efforts advocating on behalf of CT workers and suppliers. Both the NDAA and the Defense Appropriations bill fully fund the Biden Administration’s decision to pursue an F135 modernization program known as the Engine Core Upgrade (ECU). The F135 supports 27,000 skilled workers and 100 suppliers across our state. We will keep up the fight in Washington to ensure Connecticut manufacturing remains strong!”
Last year, Rep. Larson led a coalition of machinists and bipartisan Members of Congress, in support of engine modernization, an effort President Biden supported in his Fiscal Year 2024 budget.
