On March 10, 2025, Larson expressed concerns over statements made by Elon Musk and Donald Trump regarding potential cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. He questioned whether Republican colleagues would oppose these cuts or support them for tax breaks for billionaires. "Take Elon Musk and Donald Trump at their word."

The following day, March 11, 2025, Larson criticized President Trump's trade policies in another tweet. He stated that the trade war with allies would increase prices on essential goods like gas and groceries. He also noted that Republicans had blocked a House resolution aimed at stopping tariffs imposed by Trump. "President Trump's trade war on our allies will drive up prices on everything from gas to groceries."

Later that same day, Larson commented on a Republican funding bill he opposed due to its implications for Social Security and other critical services. The bill included significant budget allocations for veterans' care, rental assistance, medical research, and projects in Connecticut's 1st district.
