Rep. John Larson, a long-serving U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut’s 1st district, recently took to social media to address various issues relevant to his constituents. Through a series of tweets, Larson expressed strong opinions on maintaining social security benefits and celebrated local sports achievements.

On April 5, 2025, Larson highlighted a local protest in Torrington, Connecticut, where participants gathered despite adverse weather conditions. The congressman wrote, "Torrington showed up in the rain to tell Trump and Musk, hands off! Their ‘DOGE’ wanted to close the Social Security office that serves Northwest Connecticut. We won’t let Trump, Musk, and the billionaires gut our earned benefits!"

Later that evening, Larson acknowledged a gathering in Hartford that saw residents joining forces to defend their healthcare and retirement benefits. He stated, "Hartford, thank you! Thousands of residents from across the state showed up to speak with one voice and one message today. Trump and Musk: hands off our Medicare! Hands off our Medicaid! Hands off our Social Security!"

On the following day, April 6, 2025, Larson congratulated the University of Connecticut’s women’s basketball team on their national victory. In his tweet, Larson conveyed his enthusiasm, "NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! Congratulations to Geno Auriemma and the entire @UConnWBB team on an outstanding game and record-setting season. #BleedBlue "
