Rep. John Larson, who has served in the U.S. Congress for Connecticut's 1st District since 1999, recently shared his views on tariffs, social security, and a manufacturing program through a series of tweets. His opinions reflect his ongoing commitment to economic and social issues affecting American households.

On April 14, 2025, Larson commented on President Trump's tariff policy, criticizing its potential impact on American households. He stated, "President Trump's tariffs are a tax on YOU. They could cost the average household $4,700 per year. He shouldn't be able to impose new taxes like this. I introduced legislation with @RepLindaSanchez so Congress has to vote before new tariffs go into effect."

Later the same day, Larson tweeted about social security, voicing his support for a Democratic plan to address the issue. He asserted, "My friend @RepHorsford is right. Democrats have a plan to strengthen Social Security - by ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share, just like everyone else. What’s the Republican plan? They want to slash & privatize your earned benefits to pay for tax breaks for the wealthy."

In his final tweet on April 14, Larson addressed the Trump Administration's decision to cancel a manufacturing program. He wrote, "The Trump Administration is canceling a manufacturing program that supports small businesses & new technologies to boost our global competitiveness. We met with @CONNSTEP and local manufacturers in Glastonbury to discuss how we're fighting back to protect these investments."

John B. Larson graduated from Central Connecticut State University in 1971 with a BA and was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948. He resides in East Hartford.
