John B. Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress for Connecticut’s 1st district since replacing Barbara Kennelly in 1999, has shared a series of statements on social media addressing recent issues. Born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948, Larson, who resides in East Hartford, expressed his viewpoints on gun violence, constitutional rights, and religious observance through his social media posts.

In a tweet dated April 17, 2025, Larson addressed the recent school shooting at Florida State. He remarked, "No one should go to school worried they may not come home. We stand with the families of the victims and the community that has been torn apart by the tragic shooting at Florida State. Enough is enough. There's no excuse for inaction in Congress to end the gun violence epidemic."

Later that day, Larson commented on the detention situation involving Mohsen Mahdawi in Vermont. He stated, "Mohsen Mahdawi was detained in Vermont, with no evidence he broke the law. I joined @RepBeccaB and Democrats from New England and across the country to demand answers. We won’t stay silent as the Trump Administration tries to suppress free speech."

On April 18, 2025, Larson conveyed a message of goodwill to those observing a religious occasion, stating, "Wishing a blessed and peaceful Good Friday to everyone observing in Connecticut and around the world."

John B. Larson is known for his long-term service in Congress and his previous role in the Connecticut Senate. A graduate of Central Connecticut State University, he continues to advocate for policies affecting both his state and the nation.
