John B. Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's 1st district, has expressed his thoughts on several matters through his social media presence. Larson, who has been in office since 1999, shared his condolences and political concerns through recent posts.

On April 21, 2025, Larson commented on the passing of a significant religious figure: "I am praying for peace and strength for Catholics and the Church as the world mourns the loss of Pope Francis. His legacy as a dedicated man of faith who fought for the most vulnerable among us will endure for generations." Larson's message reflects on the Pope's commitment to faith and advocacy for the vulnerable public.

Later that same day, Larson addressed a policy issue during the current administration, stating: "The Trump Administration is trying to terminate a program that Congress funded to help communities prepare for natural disasters, including flooding in our region. They've already cut over $100 million from CT projects. We're fighting this unlawful action and demanding answers." This statement highlights Larson's objection to the federal decision affecting disaster preparedness programs, particularly in his represented region.

In a subsequent post, Larson drew attention to social welfare, indicating a defense against proposed policy changes: "Social Security has never missed a payment. It’s an earned benefit that you paid for, and it's a guarantee. Democrats are fighting to protect Social Security from Trump and Musk's cuts that are putting your hard-earned benefits at risk. Our message to them is clear – hands off!" In this tweet, Larson underscores his position on maintaining Social Security benefits against perceived threats.

John B. Larson, who was born in Hartford, Connecticut in 1948, earned his BA from Central Connecticut State University. Aside from his current role, Larson previously served in the Connecticut Senate from 1987 to 1995. He replaced former U.S. Congress member Barbara Kennelly in 1999 and resides in East Hartford.
