Newington Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on April 4.
The Newington Chamber of Commerce was pleased to once again host (in person!) the “State of the Town” breakfast last week. The event was held on March 30th at Indian Hill Country Club.
After a delicious breakfast, catered by “Casa Mia on the Hill”, the program began with Chamber Executive Director Leslie Civitello.
She was followed by Chamber President Deanna Reney, owner of Karma’s Closet. Deanna gave an overview of the Chamber and how it pivoted in 2021 during the pandemic to not only survive, but to thrive and grow. She also presented a full calendar of upcoming Chamber events planned for 2022.
Additional speakers included State Representatives Kerry Wood and Gary Turco. They shared news and highlights from the State Capitol and their impact to Newington.
Next came Mayor Beth DelBuono and Town Manager Keith Chapman. They discussed several significant development projects in Newington that are either planned or underway.
Finally, Newington Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Maureen Brummett, gave an overview of the changing demographics of Newington public schools and discussed the school board’s upcoming budget request.
We thank everyone who attended and especially Indian Hill Country Club for hosting!
