2

City of Hartford issued the following announcement on April 7.

HARTFORD, CONN. (April 7, 2022) – Today, the City of  Hartford announced that it will distribute an additional 8,000 COVID-19  at-home test kits to Hartford residents beginning Monday, April 11th,  via Hartford Public Library branches. Unlike prior distributions, these  kits will be available at any time by visiting the front desks of HPL  branches. This test kit distribution comes as public health officials  closely monitor the new COVID-19 omicron sub-variant.

Approximately 8,000 testing kits will be available at six different  library branches, which include the Downtown Hartford Public Library,  the Camp Field Library Branch, the Albany Avenue Library, the Park  Street Library @ The Lyric, the Dwight Library Branch, and the Barbour  Library Branch. They will be distributed only during normal library  hours.

Residents with disabilities seeking access to test kits can call Hartford 311 at 860-757-9311, Monday to Friday, 8AM to 5PM.

“As we continue to live with COVID over  the long-term, testing will remain an important tool to help reduce the  spread,” said Mayor Bronin. “With this new sub-variant making a surge  here in Connecticut, we want to make sure that Hartford residents have  easy and convenient access to at-home tests," said Mayor Bronin. "We  encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to get these  tests, and I want to thank the Hartford Public Library for once again  helping us distribute them to our community. "

“Hartford Public Library is proud to partner with the City of  Hartford to once again distribute COVID-19 test kits to the Hartford  community to help keep our residents safe,” said Hartford Public Library  President and CEO Bridget E. Quinn. “With the arrival of a new  subvariant it is more critical than ever for Hartford residents to have  access to coronavirus tests and vaccines and we are fortunate to be able  to provide these resources at our library locations throughout the  community.”

“Throughout the pandemic, testing remained a crucial tool to slowing  the spread of COVID within our community,” said Council President Maly  Rosado. “These at home kits are another way we can all do our part to  support the recovery of our city. I am grateful for the Mayor’s  consistent leadership and the dedication of our many community partners  as we continue to battle this virus together.”

“As our schools adapt optional masking, it is critical that parents  have test available to help keep their families and community safe,”  said Councilman Nick Lebron, Chair of the Health and Human Services  Committee. “We want to ensure that residents of the city have access to  home testing kits when needed.  Testing has been crucial to  understanding the patter of spread in the virus in order to develop  strategies to mitigate spread.”

Hartford residents will be eligible to receive two (2) test kits per  adult upon showing proof of residence (state or municipal ID, piece of  mail less than 60 days old with any other ID with name and picture).  Each kit contains two tests.  Locations of testing kit distribution  sites are listed below:

  • Hartford Public Library, Downtown Branch (500 Main Street, Hartford)
