HARTFORD, CONN – The City of Hartford, in partnership with the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving and Hartford HealthCare, is excited to announce the second annual DominGO Hartford event series! DominGO will kick off and end Hartford’s outdoor event series. This year’s first event will take place on Sunday, June 25th from 11:00am–4:00pm in Hartford’s Northeast neighborhood, stretching from Main Street and Windsor Street to Main Street and Ashford Street.

In 2022, over 20,000 attendees took to Hartford’s city streets to engage in physical activity, promote community wellness, and connect with neighbors. DominGO Hartford is also a celebration of local arts, culture, and entrepreneurship. The DominGO Hartford event series will continue later this year, with events happening in Frog Hollow on September 17th, and Parkville on October 1st.

“We’re thrilled to bring back DominGO! Hartford after a fun and successful opening year,” said Mayor Bronin.  “For three Sundays this summer and fall, we’re closing down streets to cars and opening them up for residents to run, walk, or bike up and down streets, getting a chance to get some exercise, meet new people, and explore neighborhoods you haven’t been to before.  I’m grateful to the Hartford Foundation, Hartford HealthCare, and all of our vendors and partners for their support, and I look forward to seeing all of you on North Main Street this Sunday!”

Along the route, attendees can expect to encounter Hartford nonprofits, Hartford-based retail vendors, and fitness activities led by Hartford organizations such as Hartford Athletic, The Weekend Basketball Club, and the JADHA Foundation’s Double Dutch program. Local artists will have arts and crafts activities for families and kids, and live musical entertainment will range from DJs to steel pan drum bands to reggae bands and drumlines. The Cultural Dance Troupe of the West Indies will also have pop-up performances along the route throughout the event.

“We are excited to support the DominGO open streets initiative for the second year,” said Hartford Foundation President/CEO Jay Williams. “Activating neighborhood spaces in this way provides significant benefit for local residents, supports the stability and growth of Latino- and Black-owned small businesses, and provides opportunities for artists to participate in community programming.”

Many of the businesses along the route will be open during the DominGO Hartford event, selling Jamaican, West Indian, and Caribbean food. Businesses and restaurants will spill out of their storefronts with additional seating, takeaway meals, and outdoor grilling. Retail businesses will also be open, providing shopping opportunities for attendees.

“Hartford HealthCare is proud to once again support this great event that aligns so perfectly with our mission to improve the health and healing of the people and communities we serve,” said Bimal Patel, Hartford Hospital president. “As the city’s largest employer for more than 168 years, we are committed to investing in community health, job growth, and local businesses.”

DominGO Hartford is a City of Hartford-funded initiative, sponsored by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, Hartford HealthCare, CarePartners of Connecticut, and AARP.
