Rep. John Larson, a U.S. Congressman representing Connecticut's 1st district since 1999, recently shared updates on several initiatives via social media. Known for his advocacy in education, environmental protection, and mental health care, Larson continues to focus on policies that impact these areas.

On October 18, 2024, Rep. Larson expressed his support for the Biden administration's decision to forgive student debt for public servants. He stated: "I'm thrilled to see @POTUS forgive student debt for 60,000 public servants, including teachers and first responders. I supported the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program in Congress and will continue to work to lower college costs for all Americans."

In another post on the same day, Larson highlighted the significance of the Clean Water Act over its 52-year history: "For 52 years, the Clean Water Act has protected communities from pollution and preserved the health of our rivers and streams. In Congress, I'm working to ensure everyone has access to safe drinking water & fighting back Republican attempts to undermine environmental protections."

Additionally, Rep. Larson announced federal funding secured with Rosa DeLauro for mental health training at UConn Social Work: ".@rosadelauro and I secured $587,633 in federal funding for @UConnSocialWork to train mental health care providers and ensure our schools have the personnel to support students. We will continue to support our growing health care workforce and expand access to mental health care."
