Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut's 1st district, shared his views on social security and tax policies through a series of tweets. Rep. Larson has been an advocate for enhancing benefits for seniors and ensuring equitable tax contributions from the wealthy.

On October 21, 2024, Rep. Larson criticized former President Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans for targeting Social Security for cuts. He stated that "Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans continue to target Social Security for cuts." He emphasized that Democrats are aligned with President Biden and Vice President Harris to strengthen Social Security by ensuring that wealthier individuals contribute their fair share. The proposed "Social Security 2100" plan aims to enhance benefits, extend solvency, and reduce taxes for seniors.

Later that day, he celebrated a local event in Hartford's Coltsville Historic District by joining the Hartford Chamber of Commerce and Colt Gateway at the reopening of the Thomas Hooker Café. In his tweet, he expressed enthusiasm about this development: "I joined the @HartfdChamber & @ColtGateway to celebrate the reopening of the Thomas Hooker Café in Hartford's Coltsville Historic District." He also mentioned his anticipation of seeing Coltsville formally established as a National Historical Park.

The following day, on October 22, 2024, Rep. Larson addressed Trump's Project 2025 initiative which he claims would provide significant tax breaks to wealthy individuals and large corporations while burdening the middle class financially. He tweeted: "Trump's Project 2025 promises another massive tax break for the wealthy and large corporations." He reiterated that Democrats aim to cut taxes for working families and small businesses while ensuring fair contributions from affluent citizens.
