Rep. John Larson, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district since 1999, shared several updates on social media regarding recent legislative efforts and community initiatives.

On October 22, 2024, Rep. Larson highlighted concerns about access to contraception following the overturning of Roe v. Wade. He mentioned a plan by President Biden aimed at ensuring millions of Americans have access to no-cost birth control through their health care plans. He emphasized ongoing efforts to defend women's reproductive rights: "Since Roe was overturned, access to contraception has been threatened. @POTUS’ plan would ensure millions of Americans can access no-cost birth control through their health care plan. We’ll continue to defend women’s reproductive rights!"

Later that day, Rep. Larson announced new funding initiatives aimed at supporting veterans' needs for employment and housing: "Far too often, our veterans return from service and struggle to secure employment and housing. Today, I announced $1 million in new funding with @SenBlumenthal to support 40 new affordable housing units for veterans in Winsted, as well as an on-site clinic & job training center." This initiative includes a $1 million investment alongside Senator Blumenthal for affordable housing units in Winsted.

In another post on the same day, Rep. Larson discussed federal funding secured for infrastructure improvements in Winchester: "I worked with @SenBlumenthal and @ChrisMurphyCT to secure almost $2 million in federal funds to upgrade Winsted's Elm Street Fire House." The funds are intended for upgrades at the Elm Street Fire House as part of broader efforts with local leaders like Mayor Arcelaschi and Fire Chief Lagassie.
