Rep. John Larson, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Connecticut’s 1st district, has expressed his concerns on social media regarding privacy issues and government actions. Larson, who has been a member of Congress since 1999 after replacing Barbara Kennelly, is vocal about matters affecting his constituents and the nation.

On February 7, 2025, Rep. Larson commented on the influence of billionaire Elon Musk in governmental affairs. He stated that "No one elected Elon Musk, and no one voted to have their privacy exposed." Larson criticized former President Donald Trump for allegedly allowing billionaires like Musk to influence government operations.

Later that day, Larson announced a virtual town hall meeting scheduled for Sunday from 3-4 PM. He mentioned that he had received feedback from residents concerned about President Trump's executive actions and their implications over the next four years. In his tweet posted on February 7, 2025, he invited constituents to join him to discuss these issues: "SUNDAY: I'm hosting a virtual town hall from 3-4 PM..."

On February 8, 2025, Larson addressed actions by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), which returned over $21 billion to consumers and removed medical debt from credit reports last month. He accused Trump and Musk of attempting to dismantle this agency illegally: "The @CFPB has returned $21 BILLION+ to consumers..." emphasizing the importance of protecting this consumer advocacy body.
